Why La Finca Retreat exists.
Four people who found ten quiet acres and decided not to keep them to themselves.
The owner story
La Finca began as a family dream. Farming and agriculture were part of our family's background, but as we grew up, everyday life took us away from that world. The passion never left us.
Our family comes from different countries, and we've lived in different parts of the United States. Here in Central Texas, we found a sanctuary where that dream could take shape. What started as a dream has now become a life project. La Finca means "The Farm" in Spanish, a name that connects our own backgrounds with the Spanish influence of this area.
When we found this land, we started building a place where we could disconnect from our daily routines and reconnect with what we loved. Our love of animals brought us a few goats. A few became a herd, and we found ourselves wanting to spend more and more time here.
There was just one thing missing: somewhere to stay. So we built our first casita, The Goat Barn, for our own weekends. We loved being here so much that we began wondering how we could share that feeling with others.
We opened La Finca to guests looking for the same connection to animals, nature and a slower pace. Alongside our love of farming is a passion for hospitality: welcoming people in and making each stay feel personal. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and it encouraged us to add two more casitas: The Oak Studio and The Hill Cottage. When choosing their names, we looked to our animals, our surroundings and the native plants around us.
We never planned for La Finca to become exactly what it is today. It took shape along the way, and it's still taking shape. As our goat herd grows and guests keep coming back with kind words and encouragement, we're motivated to keep improving the experience. This is still our family's dream, and sharing it has become part of what makes it special.
Looking ahead, we envision a pond for fishing and swimming, a pool, and a shared outdoor space with an outdoor kitchen. A place where families and couples can enjoy time together, meet others, and share a love of the outdoors, animals and nature.
Our animals will always be at the heart of La Finca, and we imagine a future with more than goats. As we grow, there will be more places to name, and we'd love our visitors to help us choose those names. We're still growing, still dreaming, and always open to your ideas and suggestions.
