Friday: arrive without adding another agenda
Settle into the casita and let the first evening stay simple. You have a kitchen, a bathroom, power, and Wi-Fi, plus a picnic table and a grill outside, so cooking in is a real option rather than a fallback. There is no sauna, hot tub, or yoga deck on the property — the weekend is built out of walking, cooking, and doing very little.
If dinner out is useful, Copperas Cove choices are less than five minutes away. Nelson Brew Works pairs house-brewed beer with wood-fired pizza and a patio with games. Bobby B’s serves Southern cooking, while Toa’s Ohana offers Hawaiian barbecue plates and poke. Giovanni’s is the close Italian option. Choose one, return early, and leave the rest of the night open.
Saturday morning: move, then pause
Ogletree Gap Park is under ten minutes away, free, and has 4.7 miles of natural multi-use trail through cedar and oak groves. Some sections are marked for advanced mountain biking, so follow signs and choose the route that fits. For a flat alternative, South Park has a 0.7-mile paved path beside a creek.
Return to the property for unstructured time. That is the point of the itinerary: nearby options support the stay rather than consuming it. Back at La Finca there is land to walk and goats to go look at, and nothing scheduled.
Saturday afternoon: choose water or guided practice
For water and walking, Chalk Ridge Falls Nature Area is about 25–30 minutes away, free, and open 8 a.m.–8 p.m. year-round. Stillhouse Hollow parks offer beaches and ramps, though swim beaches close seasonally and no operating on-lake kayak or paddleboard rental was verified.
For a scheduled wellness practice, Life Moves Yoga in Harker Heights is about twenty minutes away and offers alignment-focused yoga, somatic breathwork, meditation, sound and meditation, Reiki, and private sessions. Class schedules change; book directly instead of treating a general offering as a guaranteed Saturday slot.
Saturday evening and Sunday
For a deliberate date night, Salado is about forty minutes away. The Barton House offers an upscale steakhouse setting; Alexander’s serves elevated Texas farm cuisine beside the creek. If remaining close matters more, choose a Copperas Cove restaurant and return for a clear-night look at the sky. La Finca makes no Bortle or certified-dark-sky claim.
On Sunday, keep the choice small. The Gin at Nolan Creek serves brunch 10 a.m.–3 p.m. and is about thirty-five minutes away. Miller Springs Nature Center is free, open 8 a.m. to dusk, and has more than ten miles of trails. Or skip both. A wellness weekend does not fail because you spent the morning doing very little.
